About this video
Runtime: 34 minsJohn Davies discusses John Henry Newman and the Oxford movement. J. H. Newman was an English poet and Anglican priest, and later a Catholic priest and cardinal. As leader of the Oxford Movement he urged reforms of the Church of England; a return to pre-Reformation beliefs and liturgy and an emphasis on the dogmatic authority of the church. Originally an evangelical he came to view the Roman Catholic church as the legitimate legacy of natural and revealed religion.
