About this video
Runtime: 26 minsFranklin Harkins discusses Aquinas and his influence on theology. Thomas Aquinas, at age five, was sent to the Benedictine monastery at Monte Cassino for education and monastic training. In 1239, he moved to Naples for advanced studies, where he encountered the Dominican order and joined in 1244. His theological education continued in Paris under Albert the Great. Aquinas became a significant theologian, producing extensive works like the "Summa Theologiae," integrating Aristotelian philosophy with Christian doctrine. He experienced a profound spiritual event in 1273, ceasing his writing, and died in 1274. He was canonized in 1323 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1567.
